Culinary Experience


The kitchen emphasizes homemade food. Many of the ingredients are local and locally sourced.

A good day always starts with a good breakfast. Here you'll find everything from oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs, homemade jams, and various cheeses. We bake all the bread ourselves in-house every day. This also makes it easy to pack your own lunch for the day's hike.



Dinner menus consist of elk, deer, reindeer, fish, and traditional festive food from Gudbrandsdalen. On Saturday evenings during peak season, we offer a buffet with traditional dishes. Sour cream porridge, cured meats, salads, and hot dishes.

3 course dinner

Juvasshytta offers fixed dinner service from 18:30-21:00 during the peak season (We may end service earlier outside of peak season if there are few guests).

If you wish to have dinner served after this time, please let us know well in advance so we can arrange something for your arrival. As a tourist lodge, dinner is served at one or two table settings, meaning we combine different groups at the same table. This has been the practice in the mountains for many years.


If you have allergies or are vegetarian/vegan, we have alternatives for you and can tailor the menu accordingly. This must be ordered in advance.

If you are not staying with us but still want to have dinner with us, it is entirely possible if there is space available. Please call and reserve a table.

A packed lunch is essential for a day trip. Here with us, you assemble your own lunch during breakfast. We provide sandwich paper and lunch bag paper.

Remember, if you wish to have your thermos filled, bring your own thermos and leave it at the reception the evening before.
